Tony Orr wins his International Bout OCT 2014
 

Greenock Boxing Club's Tony Orr was selected to represent Scotland at the a recent home international dual against Wales. 

We are delighted to report that Tony came through a really difficult bout against Paul Wilson with a win. Tonys Welsh opponent proved to be strong competition and the fight was so close that it ended as split decision from the judges. Tony decribed it as his hardest fight so far and a great experience. 

A big well done to Tony for all his hard work !

Novice Championship Update OCT 2014
 

Greenock Boxing Club had 9 entries at this weekend's Scottish Novice Championship. Unfortunately 2 of our boxers had no opponents in the same weight class so we will keep you upto date with how the remaining 7 boxers got on.

Martin & Robbie's Debut Sept 2014
 

Friday September 19th seen Martin & Robbie Harkins represent Greenock Boxing Club for the first time. With mixed results, a solid win for Martin who can be pleased with his performance and some improvements to be made by Robbie who missed out on a win through decision. Tony Orr lost on a close decision in the same show but can take heart from his performance.

Callen McAulay winning by stoppage through in Edinburgh on the Craigmillar show.

Filmpoem Workshop - I Prefer Both
OCT 2014

 

On Sunday October 4th, Liz Lochhead, Scotland's National Poet, led a Filmpoem Workshop in Greenock, with twelve children from Greenock Boxing Club. Everyone gave their time to the community voluntarily, and The Beacon Arts Centre in Greenock gave Filmpoem a room and hospitality to undertake the workshop; it was directed by Alastair Cook with sound design by Luca Nasciuti. Tony Orr makes the Scotland Squad Sept 2014
 

Greenock Boxing Club's Tony Orr has been selected to represent Scotland at the upcoming home international dual against Wales. 

A big well done to Tony for all his hard work in making the squad. If you would like tickets to watch Tony in action you can buy them by contacting Boxing Scotland or you can see Tony on our home show November 2nd.

GBC Attends Commonwealth Games August 2014
 

20 members of Greenock Boxing Club attended the Commonwealth Boxing Finals thanks to Scotrail and got the chance to see boxers from around the world going for gold. 

 

A fantastic night for everyone involved and some pictures of our trip can be viewed in this gallary.

GBC Wins Tickets to the Games  July 2014
 

The club will be taking 20 members to this years commonwealth boxing finals thanks to Scotrail, the Games transport partner. Scotrail were kind enough to donate 20 tickets to the final day of this years commonwealth boxing on Saturday 2nd of August . 

 

The club would like to thank Scotrail for this fantastic gift ! 

Ryan Ball wins British Championship June 2014

 

Greenock Boxing Club has a new British Champion in its ranks with Ryan Ball winning the British Championships this week in Cardiff.

Funding success for GBC !  June 2014

 

The club is delighted to annouce our recent success in gaining funding from Inverclyde Council which will be used to fix the roof within the club. Additional funding has been granted to aid the clubs running costs.

 

The club would like to take this opportunity to extend its thanks to Inverclyde Council and everyone involved in making our application successful.

Sam Boxes Down Under June 2014

 

Continuing with his successes this year, Greenock Boxing Clubs Sam Ball represented Scotland in Australia this month. Sam spent three weeks with the rest of the Scotland Squad with an intense training programme being the main focus of the trip along side 2 bouts with some of Australia's finest. 

We are proud to say Sam won both of his bouts and done Greenock & Scottish Boxing proud on the other side of the world. More news on the training camp can be found on the Boxing Scotland website.

Commonwealth Team Announced July 2014

 

Boxing Scotland recently announced its team of boxers who will represent the country in this years commonwealth games in Glasgow.

Greenock Boxing Club would like to wish Team Scotland the best of luck in this years competition.
